traderblues,

I added "date offset 20" to ure filter to see how it fared for this past month, and the result reveals that most of them fell significantly. All in all, the overall performance for this filter is down little more than 7% while the Nasdaq and the Dow is down 3.65% and 1.23%, respectively. Of course, I would think ure time horizon is longer than mere 20 days. Hence, I extended the offset to 200 days and the outcome looks more promising. It raked in 9% vs. 2.5% for the Nasdaq and 6% for the Dow.

If possible, I would like to hear some of the specifics in ure trading analysis. By the way, have you done any extensive backtesting on this filter?

I haven't done any testing on it. All I did was to add an optionable line, and a couple of lines to get stocks that are in somewhat of an uptrend, but still undervalued.

My time horizon for these stocks would be more than 1 year, since I was thinking in terms of LEAPS.

No

The prefrct filter is:

"when my dog barks three times in the morning at the sun shines between 11:00am and 12:30 pm buy stocks betwen $40 and $100 going up and hold for 54 days

Joking of course.

Guys...I could find 100+ indicators that all ligned up for TIE and HANS moves. Seriously stop trying to find one perfect filter...there isn't one.

Markcrisp, that is is an interesting point!"I could find 100 indicators/filters to line up with TIE".Perhaps just one of these indicators equates to one thousand technical traders multiplied by one hundred. Some of the nice momentum trades line up with a bunch of bullish filters.ESLR fit this trading aproach today.

Hey guys just posted here to bring this thread to the top and I hope everyone is doing well. Check out the results on my filter with a one year offset. Almost all green and the tax man gets only 15 percent no commission. Who said buy and hold doesnt work?

So Mark, to ask about:the below. Of course, money management "rules".
BUT, how to focus on the highest percentage odds on stocks. ie avoid the low percentage stocks, low return, etc etc you get my point.
What filter(s) do you recommend, or use?

By the way, one of the big losers on that list really isn't.

According to the line items, FDC is down 41%. However, that's because the price dropped from $42.00 to $23.07 on a $19.13 special dividend on Oct 2nd.

The more I see this filter...the more my beard turns gray. lol....but I like what you've done with this. I've put this filter on the back burner, but I think it's time to start tinkering with it. Hope you don't mind "as"....
