I'm more of a swing trader rather than a day or scalper. That's just my style. As I mentioned in the post, earnings season is when I give more thought to day trading so that's why I picked GD since it reported earnings today. GD moved 5.68% today, well above its adr(10) of 2.09.
Apple's adr(10) is 1.32. TRO said this regarding MTC, "If price goes up a DOLLAR and it stops... EXIT! TAKE THE MONEY OFF THE TABLE. THIS IS SCALPING." Again, I'm not interested in being a scalper. His stats show AAPL move up .50 68% of the time. It closed at $174.22 so +.50 is $174.72. The 1/26 175 Call closed at .83. An option profit calculator I use show only a 16% gain in option price on a .50 gain on the underlying. I don't play options for 16%. I only play for 50% or more.

Big Option Volume Play of the Day - TSM (Mahkoh has a great play in RH, but $38 per contract is too rich for me!)
A premium of $1.8 million on 15,000 of the 7/20 50 Call for $1.20 with stock at $45.46. Daily show Mt. Everest trajectory this year and investor bought in on today's pullback. Monthly show a non stop climb for 9 years which makes this one of the longest trend I've seen. Break even of $51.20 is 13% away from today's closing of $45.33 which under normal circumstances should be easily achievable for most stocks. However, TSM has averaged only 16% per year over the past nine years so you're asking this stock to gain almost an entire year's worth in only six months. The saving grace is that it has gained an average of 21% over the past two years so this makes it look more doable.
DISCLOSURE: No position.
Tuesday's spotlight - QQQ, 24,852, 3/16 166 Put $2.56, Stock $169.50
A temporary dump in the market brought it to a high of $3.46 for an intraday high of 35%, but alas bears were foiled again as the market recovered so it closed at $2.97 for a gain of 16% so far.
The open trades haven't fared well as six of the nine are in the red. Today's continual fading in the market didn't help matter. This goes to show that the sharks aren't perfect.

Someone picked up yesterday's mentioned GD today, buying 2500 May 215 calls and financing 80 % of the trade with the sale of 4000 May 230 calls. Stock at 225.56

Mahkoh,
I think it's the other way around. They bought 5/18 230 Calls & sold the 5/18 215. Stock is at 227 so buying the 230 would make more sense.

GD's 30 minute opening range breakout I mentioned yesterday that one could have purchased the 1/26 215 Call for .45 closed at 11.80 today for a 2522% gain or $25,222. Not bad coinage for two day's "work".

Yes, upon closer investigation of where the contracts were traded within the spread I'd have to agree. However, this trade makes no sense on the bullish side. Why buy a call if you have a short call below that is going to take all your profits and then some? Looking at OI I think the 215 was closing of an existing position and rolling up to the 230.

Big Option Volume Play of the Day - TSM (Mahkoh has a great play in RH, but $38 per contract is too rich for me!)
A premium of $3.1 million on 25,000 of the 8/17 $47.50 Call for $1.24 with stock at $42.19. This big play was in addition to another $2.3 million of the 9/21 50 Call for $0.94. Daily chart shows extreme choppiness dotted with big selling days like today's -1.98%. Apparently someone thinks otherwise. Break even of $48.74 is 15.6% away from today's closing of $42.14. Earnings was yesterday and it didn't move the needle so either something is coming down or this investor hope the next two earnings will have a better reaction. Total option Call/Put volume percentage was 80-20 and bullish order sentiment was 63% which is inline with the 30-day average of 62%.
Wednesday's spotlight - TSM, $1.8 million, 15,000, 7/20 50 Call $1.20, Stock $45.46
TSM dropped -0.51% causing the option price to remain at $1.20
Today was a second day of choppiness which didn't help price movement. AKS is down -45% so it's close to our -50% sell.
Opening Range Breakout - TAL
Bought TAL 2/16 $32.50 Call for $1.50 after seeing it break out of its initial 30 minute high. It went as high as $2.40 before closing at $2.30 for a 50% gain. I decided not to sell if after seeing impending bullish MACD X-Over and Stochs clearing 20. If it can break is short term resistance of $34.20, then it should be able to test the $36 high. Missed out on MNKD Call, CLF & CRR Put. Wish I had an intraday scanner to help me with ORB!
