Great observation .... did a little testing ..... JNUG long vs. NUGT short looks like a great paired trade currently ....

Clever, Bartune. NUGT cheap to borrow currently at IB. Good luck.
VIX 50 % retracement between the November high (23.0) and January low (10.0) sits at 16.50.
In the past these levels have been important.

I think the perfect storm is brewing for TVIX to really take off. Not riding it on the way up, but will be glad to short it if it really starts to run. We'll see if it fills.

well, intuitively i would think it would explain why JNUG and NUGT didn't go in harmony on Friday. i dont know if there would be more to it though.

Agreed, but wouldn't a disruption in supply result in JNUG outperforming NUGT?

yes, great point. unless, speculating once again, the lack of supply has negative sentiment attached to it, so insiders started thinking 'all things being equal, it's basically the same asset so lets go with the one not effected'

Well, for what its worth, I took a position Thursday after I posted .... long 2,452 shares of JNUG @ 6.922 and short 1,500 shares of NUGT @ 11.334. I usually play pairs back to the 100,1 BB level. Currently, this represents a 18.5% profit potential. Positions taken are $17K per side. So, I'm looking at a potential profit of $3,145. So we will see how this plays out .....
