Edmond, if I may pass comment pls.
Mike..." Let me get this straight. You're buying when you see volume dry up? "
an example, using the daily bar chart of PVTB 09 sept 09 to today.
Oct26 and 27 09. this is panic selling oh high volume. Oct28 the activity here is 2 fold. Panic selling as shown by the excessive ultra-high volume but the mmaker is absorbing all this selling , narrow range bar, close above dp50. This senario now shows strength. The stock then goes through a period of stagnation ie accumulation. Now look at Nov 12 09, Dec 18th 09, Jan 7 '10, there was no follow through 'confirmation' on these up moves as this market was not ready to go up yet. So when will it. The tale begins to unfold on Jan 07 and 08 with range expansion up moves. Indication is given on Jan 12 and 22 with the mmaker testing for any remaining supply/ more selling that will knock the mkt dwn again and there is none as shown by the next 2 bars being up. Jan 11 and 15th are confirmed buy days with low risk entry. There is no supply left in this stock. Lows are now rising up on 'average', not excessive, volume with up closes. The mmaker has withindrawn from the mkt as they now want/waiting for the stock to move up. 1st target is +50% to resistance at 15.06 of Oct26 where 'effort' (volume) to punch through followd by confirmation of trend continuation will again be needed. excessive volume on up moves, will result in the wheels coming off the cart... and I believe tim sykes calls them skyscrapers.

Looks to me like Jan 7 is the entry date. How many times does a set up like this turn into a run away move? 50% 75% 85%? So what you're basically doing is stalking low consolidation dry ups that are starting to break out.Is that what the DeMark filter is all about?Or is there any other filters that catch this kind of move? I just noticed EK & HBAN volume dry up consolidation before they started a move up.Would these be considered candidates?Maybe you guys are on to something.Mike.......

There is a consolidation of price and volume but not much . They move like a ghost ship in the night . A stock that goes up while only increasing in volume lightly . This is where the Demark indicator is helpful . My winning % is 100 . Its not really about winning % its complicated because at some point when price does rise over a few days or week is it more profitable to sell or stay in the trade . Trusting the trade is not easy and deeply psychological something I am working on . I can say 100% but selling into small profits does not really count . I am really bad at buying and selling because of the amount of traffic a stock can get in the early hours this is why trading with the Demark indicator my timing becomes better getting into and out of a stock is no longer frustrating . Everything I knew was wrong or backwards until I made so many mistakes I was forced to learn . My trade goal is to enter my trades at the beginning of a trend and to ride each trend until its end or until the Demark turns down . The only pattern that I have noticed is that volume moves slowly there is no big buying spree. Buying is done in limits at certain prices over and over in slow increments . When there is a huge splash in volume than its only a day trade . I feel like an idiot saying I have been correct on 100 % of my trades but its true, I just need to learn to trust the trend more to extract more profit .

I use many different Filters I have found here on Stockfetcher here is one Written BY TRO called ":Come back Kid " its a fantastic filter. Noticed I have placed the Demark Indicator on the bottom and I only start to buy when I see the Demark indicator turning up on light volume . Thanks Tro :) .

hi mike..
I wasn't passing along specific info re DeMark indicators, rather bar analysis and Edmond's insightful comments.
And its' not about looking for home run moves. Look 1st at the past/left to see what has happened
Look at 03 to 12 Nov09, but good only for a few ruples ... compare to similar Jan 15 to 25 '10....

Re Jan 7th.... would be an 'unconfirmed' entry date... will mkt go up or down next is a guess here IMHO.
next day Jan 8th is a positive sign as the mkt moves up for a 2nd bar on up relative volume, so here you could place a limit long order.
Jan 11h is another positive sign and confirmation of the up move now going to happen. FWIW, this would be my entry.
Jan 12 is just a mmaker trap designed to shake you out.

See Edmond's recent prior post about volume. Average relative volume is key, things are humming be it up or down.. Excessive volume should make you stop what you are doing because the market is yelling at you to pay attention now :)

Perhaps Edmond could elaborate further on his Demark charts/settings/usage.

Question for the experts, looking at the PBW & DBC charts, the DeMark indicator is at a bottom.Where would you enter a long side trade & why?Where would you place your stops? The exit I could handle myself.Thanks,Mike....
