Is there a way stockfetcher can create a scan that uses another symbol as a filter? The individual symbol feature I see on stockfetcher seems to only do comparison. But I want it stand alone by itself.

For example, if I wanted to create something symbol like,

Show stocks when the SPY is above MA(200) and
show stocks when RSI(14) is below 20

This way, the scan will only show symbols if the spy is above its 200ma. I want to build something off a bunch of filters that can reference a symbol or index.

General Discussion · SF: Is there a way to scan for Implied Volatilty?

If we want to trade options (bigger % return for what I want). I'd like to know if there's a way to scan for Implied Volatility, or what it closes the day at. I know SF has scans for Statistical,Historical Volatility.

I know optionetics has a scan for this at: http://www.optionetics.com/market/rankers/

However, if I can combine some of my SF filters w/ IV, it would be very successful imo.

I'm sure this has been done before but I dont know what it's called.

Looking for stocks that are consolidating in a VERY narrow range for at least 3 days, but RSI(5) has been increasing while the price sits still. Eventually when the stocks breaks out of the range, I set an alert, buy the stock and have a super quick profit. Perhaps 200,000 volume minimum would help too.

INNO on 2/10-14/06 was an example, NAUC on 2/23-27/06 another one. How to build this filter thanx.

Thanks Mike. Is there a way I can specify a range instead then? For example, greater than 5 days, and less than 30. That way I can allow the stock to consolidate instead of just looking at yesterday's stocks which I wouldn't want in the scan.

Thank you for your response. Does that code look for stocks that dropped a lot 30 days ago? or at LEAST 30 days ago? I dont want to be limited to exactly 30 days, maybe even something that happened 30 days to 1 year ago.
thx

When I find these patterns manually I usually do really well, it's really simple strategy yet does quite well. I am looking for stocks that had a really big tank in 1 or 2 days of say 30% or more, over 30 days AGO. Then let it consolidate for a while in a pretty flat channel. Then when it shows signs of breaking the upside of the channel I jump in and ride the bounce. Of course it will work in big stocks, but on small stocks very easy to find stocks go from $4 to $2, and ride it back to $3 for a nice 50% bounce in a couple of days.

This is what I have so far, but I can't seem to get the syntax right for what I want.

Show stocks below 3
and volume is above 200000
and close dropped more than 30% in one day more than 30 days ago (this is where I have problems)
and RSI(5) reached a new 30 day high
and OBV is above 0

and the stock is trading in a tight channel 10% of its price (a $2 stock would only hover .20 while in the channel during the consolidation)

Can anyone help me w/ the proper syntax, and/or tweak it. I do quite well, if I can only automate the finding process. thank you

I'd like to create a filter where a stock has been in a channel for say 5,30,100 days etc. And then the FIRST day it makes a 30 day high I want SF to tell me. If I do some thing like, show stocks where price reached a new 30 day high, that will give results for the first day it breaks out. But also, if it continues to go up, it will list 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc. days as well (because techinically those would also be 30 day highs as well). How do I tell SF that I only want it to search for stocks that show only the first day, but not all the subsequent days?

any help is appreciated
oh and any help w/ that type of filter including the baseing in a nice flat channel before the breakout would be appreciated as well :)
