I did some digging and apparently, other people have questioned Weinstein's erroneous equation for Relative Strength over the years. As far as I can tell, the equation in the below link is correct. Can someone please tell me how to embed filters? Also, as noted in the code, I believe daily charts need a 200 MA and weekly charts need a 52 MA.

https://www.tradingview.com/chart/LAC/K4K9vEtR-200-day-Mansfield-relative-strength-index-for-stage-analysis/

chart-time is 3 months
symlist(gol,htz,x,tsla)
set{ratio, close/ind(^ixic,close)}
/*200 for daily charts-52 for weekly*/
set{erat, cema(ratio,200)}
set{quo,ratio/erat}
set{dif,quo - 1}
set{MansfieldRS,dif*10}
draw MansfieldRS
add column MansfieldRS
draw MansfieldRS line at 0

On page 108, he defined the relative strength as the ratio of the stock price to that of a market index, and then on page 109 he talked about how this ratio can be negative or positive. This can't be negative the way he defined it. What am I missing?

Damn, damn, damn!!! I am on Chapter 3 and I made some alerts in TradingView last night based on phase 1 stock candidates crossing trend lines. I got an alert about KPTI this morning and now it's up like 30%. I wish I would have bought. This book is amazing!

You may want to check out TradingView. It has a true intraday scanner and it seems to OK (not great). Unfortunately, it is limited to a set of canned (not customize-able) criteria. This is unfortunate as they have a powerful Pine Editor that lets you define and manipulate indicators for graphing purposes.

Perfect. Thanks everyone! Yes, I should be looking at weekly here. I will probably end up with daily and weekly elements in the same filter and look at the results side by side in TradingView. I'm still very new here and learning.

I am interesting in seeing when the weekly +di moving average starts to move up. The script below works for the day but SF does not like the syntax for the weekly, i.e. "set {x,weekly +di(14)}". I think it hates the + sign. Any thoughts?

set {x,+di(14)}
set {xx,cema(x,15)}
set {y,-di(14)}
set {yy,cema(y,15)}
set {xm1, value of xx 1 day ago}
set {del,xx-xm1}
del crossed above 0
draw del line at 0
draw xx
draw yy on plot xx
draw adx
