I also heard this morning an old quote from Ben Franklin: "An idea that is not first considered absurd has no future", or something like that. I thought that was pretty good.

The more polite way to say it is, "The people that say it can't be done should get out of the way of the people that are doing it."

Yes.
Most of the emphasis here is on entry filters. A person also needs an exit strategy. Exit filters can also be designed here at SF. The third piece of the puzzle is position size (money management). Then the 4th piece (and biggest) is personal discipline.

alf,
I agree. I get good results by finding stocks in a long term uptrend, and where CCI(14) crossed above -100. This finds the stocks that are ready to resume their uptrend from a short pullback.

Yep. GSHF owns a majority stake of VRDM, so they are moving in tandem right now.

You need to factor in slippage and commissions. Your average gain per trade is only 1.43%. This will come down after you figure in the costs. And your success rate will also go down quite a bit.
This is one downfall of this backtester. There is no option to add slippage and commissions into the results. What you can do is download the trade results into Excel, add a column to add slippage and commissions to every trade, and see what it does to the results.

Also, what are the good FOREX brokers? I've read on another website that Oanda is a good one.
