Backtesting Support · Conditional Entries and Exits

I didn't know if I should put this request here, or in the comments and suggestions forum:

Currently in the backtester, you can set a conditional entry and check the conditional box to only enter the order if it hits your conditional price. This is good. But if you don't want to check the box, it will default to the open price if your conditional entry is not hit. Wouldn't it make sense to default to the closing price if your conditional price is not hit and you don't check the box? There's no way in real trading that you can go back to the market open and get the opening price if your limit order is not hit. But you can change your limit order to a market order at the close.

Likewise, if you input a conditional exit it will default to the day's open price if your conditional exit price is not hit. I would like it to default to the exit price. It would also be nice if we had a check box for the exits like we have for the entries.

I don't know about the backtester issues you are experiencing, but these two stocks both look like good buy candidates here. Thanks for the heads-up!

This is just my opinion, but I don't think he should be trading right now. He has too many other things to think about. If he feels he has to trade to make money right now (to pay for medical bills?), that is a formula for disaster.

Start with this (but this would catch it after the breakout):

Fetcher[rsi(14) crossed above 70
and aroon(25) oscillator crossed above 50

Nice call on VYYO.

I picked up another 20% gainer today - SMRL.

(I could have picked up another one. I "settled" for 12% on JDO. It's rallying again this afternoon, so it would have paid 20% if I had held.)

Thanks. Yeah, I've been feeling for awhile now that I'm on the cusp of really putting this all together. You've helped a lot. I've been visiting Green on the Screen lately, and will visit more often. I've been thinking of subscribing to Didn't know if I could refine the filters there like I can here, but maybe it doesn't matter. What you say is, "It doesn't matter. It's simple." You just feel it. I hope to get there before too long.

Also, thanks for commenting in my blog. Your comments are appreciated.

P.S. BVSN has been killing me! Never did make anything off of that stock.

OK, I am to the point where I am comfortable with my success with swing trades and position trades. Now the final piece of the pizzle is day-trading. I can use stockfetcher to find good day-trades, but with a 20-minute lag. I was fortunate to find VYYO today, but I have a feeling that I need real-time info to do this consistently.

I am looking for services where I can code a filter similar to stockfetcher, but with real-time info. I am guessing I can do this at Tradestation, but are there any other options?

(In other words, I want to be like Muddy!)

Did anyone catch VYYO today? I caught wind of it around mid-morning, and bought at 5.50. Picked up a nice 20% gain.
