StockFetcher 2.0 Beta · Please add Average Implied Volatility data for finding Option candidates

@omitrademan: Unfortunately, implied volatility requires option price, strike price and option expiration date (along with stock price) as input to the Black-Scholes formula; StockFetcher does not support these values.

@freshpotato: While they do not necessarily require announcements, we are always adding new features to StockFetcher. If there are particular features you feel are missing, please let us know!

Hi,

The entire thread (and another) has been made read-only. Unfortunately, the two threads were magnets for off-topic posts. We hate to lock-down a thread, but found that we were having to weed through too many unrelated posts.

Please feel free to start up a new thread!

Hi,

First, we have fixed the embedded chart issue from your post. Next, if you can provide other details where the charting is not working properly, that would be great.

Thank you,

Backtesting Support · Back test ROI is incorrect (244% vs 14%)

Below is a description from the help page on how the ROI(%) is computed:

Annualized Return on Investment(ROI): Multiply the average gain/loss by the ratio of the number of days in a year and average days held per trade.

Unfortunately, we are not able to locate the average days held for your trades in that backtest, but assuming you were holding for a single day per trade you get:

ROI = 0.99 * (247 / 1) = 244.53%

Hope that helps.

@chetron: Thanks for the responses. Unfortunately, the brevity of your three responses has left us a bit confused.

First, are you saying that "DOESN'T MATTER" to all of the questions above? If so, that is good to know and definitely helps us out. Additionally, you refer to "LATTER" in your message, is that supposed to be "LATER" (as opposed to "not the former")?

Finally, in your previous two messages you provide 2 IE versions, were you confirming that this problem occurs on 2 separate computers? If so, do you use these computers simultaneously, or do you operate them at different times?

Finally, have you tried using an alternate browser, such as FireFox, only to see if it produces the same problem?

Thank you and please don't hesitate to add more details -- we don't necessarily limit message lengths on the StockFetcher forums.

@alf: It is possible this could be causing an issue; however, more than anything we are trying to gather as many details as possible in trying to reproduce this problem. From our end, we are trying to see if this is isolated to particular browsers, time of day, etc. -- so any details you can provide will definitely help us out.

Below are a couple more questions:

- Does the lock up issue occur at particular times of the day?
- Are you using the "date offset" feature when the problem occurs?
- Does the problem happen only with saved filters or also when you are on the "Customize" tab?

Thank you,

Tom

We are definitely not suggesting that you have to restart your browser or flush your cache to use StockFetcher. These questions help us understand what might be causing your problem.

For example, StockFetcher depends on cookies. There are several scenarios that can change this value. For example:

- You remove cookies while browsing.
- In a separate window, you sign-in and sign-out -- but do not close all instances of your browser window.
- Two separate browser instances running concurrently.

And those are just a few examples of what we are aware of.

We are simply trying to identify this problem. It is a very specific issue that is hard to reproduce without knowing more details about your specific situation (browser, etc.)

First, when you run into these problems, we STRONGLY recommend emailing StockFetcher support (support@stockfetcher.com) as soon as it happens. Unfortunately, the StockFetcher forums are not the ideal location for troubleshooting specific user problems.

Concerning the problem, If possible can you provide more details?

- Which specific filter(s)?
- What browser are you using?
- Have you tried restarting your browser and clearing your internet cache?
- Have you tested to see if the problem exists in a different browser (simply to verify the problem.)

@nikoschopen: Looking at the prices for CBI and the date offset specified, I believe the values are correct.

Your filter uses a date offset of 3 and is run on 5/5/2008, the closing value based on your filter date (4/30/2008) would be 39.84.

Your message was posted mid-day yesterday (unfortunately, we dont keep the mid-day prices) but using the extremes from 5/5/2008 (high=40.39, low=38.77), we would see the "close to close" change from 4/30/08 to 5/5/08 would be:

Upper Bound: (40.39 - 39.84) / 39.84 = +1.38%
Lower Bound: (38.77 - 39.84) / 39.84 = -2.69%

It looks like that would place the "Since(%)" of -1.10% in a valid range for yesterday.

I hope I didn't miss the point of your message, but it seems like the "hover" chart might be confusing things as it ends on the date of your filter (from date offset) not the current date.

@alf44: We are still looking into this issue. Unfortunately, at this point we have not been able to reproduce the problem. If there are any specific steps or details you can provide which describe this issue, please let us know.
