Kevin,

You sent me this as part of an answer to another question( BTY works great back testing) question, in real life trading do you let your $ ride without a stop loss or is that just to fool the stockfetcher for better results? I have been taught that stops are very important to protect your investment. What would be the reason behind no profit stop other than a better backtest result? Am I looking at this the wrong way?

Thanks Kevin, really appreciate your advise.

PS: I love the idea of your trading log and will follow it if you stay with it.

You need a space between 1DAY.

Backtest conditions are simple:

1. No stop loss or trailing stop (leave blank).

2. 20% profit stop.

3. No maximum time to hold (leave blank).

4. Exit trigger is "close is above upper Bollinger bands(16,2.5)".

5. All other setting are kept at default.

I am going to try your slot machine this week with real money, any tips or advise ie stop loss etc?
I tagged it to a IBD 100 watch list and have gotten great results (how do you feel about that?). Any advise appreciated.

Dear Chetron,

I have been interested in Marlyn's filter which you were kind enough to provide a while ago. For some reason I keep getting "debug" notifications. I didnt change anything, would you take a look see? Many thanks for all of your helpful post. You are a great help to all of us starting out.

They say no question is stupid, but how do you play these picks, specifically I mean:

Day 1) Stockfetcher generates a list and you play that list.

Day 2) Do you re-run the filter and start all over? Do you stick with the 1st list and add to it as stocks hit loss critera?

#3 I have a full time job and not able to "day trade" does anyone have a filter I can set Sunday night and let auto run
with something like etrades "trailing trades" where I can set the high/low.

I have generated with the help of others great filters but not for this application.

I am new at this, but have always been facinated by stocks. I have to say I have never been involved with an online community so helpful, special thanks to Kevin from GA. Only hope to offer good feed back to others soon.

Thanks,

SF

Kevin,

You were kind enough to give me this example to comapare to mine, but no matter what variables I imput on the back test, it comes up bad. Any ideas on on stop limit, days to hold, # of trades etc? Thanks for your valuable time.

CLOSE 1 DAY AGO IS BELOW LOWER BOLLINGER BANDS(16,2.5) 1DAY AGO
and close is above close 1 day ago
and close is above 1
and volume is above 50000
