I like Scott's concept regarding the closing prices 1, 2,...7 days ago, but let's say you wanted to study the concept of closing indicator values. How does that plugin? For instance, instead of a price study how does one plug in an indicator value to study such as CMO(5,9) or MFI(20) 1, 2, 3,....7 days ago into the program. Is that possible?

Eman, how has this filter been working out for you? (Good article by Krausz, too.)

It's an intellectual curiosity at the moment for me. It appears to act like an overbought and oversold indicator and it gives me a sense of price volatility and possible reversal areas. I threw the other indicators in to see how they synchronize. I'm well into analysis paralysis with it. I'm not exactly sure how to trade it at the moment or backtest it. It might work well with stocks that range up and down. I'm not sure, yet. By all means, pls feel free to study it.

Not being much of a statistician, I'm thinking it filters the 24 day standard deviation of price. It's like the overlay study of Keltner Bands except it doesn't use ATR, it uses standard deviation, plus it's a lower study. I can visualize standard diviation better than I can ATR. Google "standard deviation" for a good definition and demonstration of SD. I'm afraid I'd butcher that for you. Cheers.

FWIW: Kevins Blog has noted the same sorts of things in regards to the etfs. http://kevinsmarketblog.blogspot.com/2009/11/stocks-continue-to-make-new-highs.html

For the fun of it I'm going to paper trade this: sell 1 Dec 75 call / buy 3 Dec 85 calls thinking the stock makes a big move up before DEC expiration. If it moves above 85, TOS says I stand gain about $350. Short term it says I could lose max $140 at expiration. It's paper, what the heck. Margin is 1075 per contract.

That's fantastic! I should've been able to figure that out. I got the idea now. Thanks again.

Chetron,

I'm liking this. Thanks! How would I further filter for those stocks either above the Cloud Top or below the Cloud Bottom?

here's a different interpretation ....

Set{MA24,CEMA(CLOSE,24)}
set{SD,cstddev(CLOSE,24)}
set{SD24,.8 * SD}
add column SD24
do not draw sd24
set{JP_CLOUD_TOP,MA24 + SD24}
set{JP_CLOUD_BOTTOM,MA24 - SD24}
SET{JP_CLOSE,CLOSE}
DRAW JP_CLOUD_BOTTOM ON PLOT JP_CLOUD_TOP
DRAW JP_CLOSE ON PLOT JP_CLOUD_TOP

CLOSE ABOVE 40
Average Volume(90) ABOVE 1000000
draw RSI(2) on plot weekly rsi(2)
draw IFT(5,9)
add column IFT
