Good catch with FRE.

I don't really understand how you know to buy close & sell open based on your filter. In FRE case, it seems to gap up as much as it gaps down, so wouldn't that give you a 50/50 chance?

i'm not sure how quotetracker is making the stochastics 28,1 but I'm trying it with tradestation and 30 min charts and the stoch just doesn't move much. I don't see any possible entries that fit this criteria.

I've thought about your idea and I wonder how much of your success was just due to the fact that they were moving up? On the daily chart SPF moved up quite a bit from 2 to 4.40. I think you could have any criteria for going long with this stock and make money.

If you have more ideas I'd like to take a deeper look. I've been trading futures for a while now and I'm looking for a little old man type strategy that I can do on the side.

Bartune, if you want to short I suggest IB. It is very rare that it doens't let me short and the shorts are filled instanteaously. I was never aware of such problems shorting before reading your email. I guess IB has so many customers that they have no problem finding the shares.

Is it possible? I'd like to use the number of results my filter produces in my filter.

My testing has showed that when a stock gaps down, it's more likely to finish down than up. not enough of an edge to trade that outright, but it is useful information.

For my entry I use this:

set{myPrice, max(open, close 1 day ago)}
myPrice

This is for a short strategy. Would this do the same thing as yours (but for shorts)?

After getting a bit beat up with S&P 500 & Oil futures I thought I'd come back and check out the stocks. I was surprised to see this thread is still alive.

I ran RFR and took the first stock with > 1 million shares which was MNI. I set up a 5min & 1min chart and saw a 1-2-3 topping pattern just after the open. So I went short and it has went down 40 cents, that's 8%. Amazing.

I'm curious what entry criteria you guys are using? I basically look for reversal patterns on a 5min or 1min chart. Like 1-2-3, double top/bottom, etc.

I don't remember what the going green means. I'm used to doing some kind of breakout / reversal trades.

Here's a chart:

If anyone has traded both futures & stocks I'm curious which you prefer. I think there's a bigger edge in stocks.

High reached a new 60 day high within the last 5 days

High is below high 1 day ago
High 1 day ago is below high 2 days ago
High 2 days ago is below high 3 days ago
High 3 day ago is below high 4 days ago

I'm trying to figure out how to get a stock that made a recent high and is in a pullback. I must be missing something obvious but here is what I'm trying:

High reached a new 30 day high within the last 10 days
High is below 30 day high
High 1 day ago is below 30 day high

The problem is in the filter results, yesterday's high *is* the 30 day high. I want at least a 2 day pullback.

can anyone help me with this please? Thanks.

I'd like to find correlated stocks but I don't see any indicators for this. Does anyone have an idea how I can do this?
