mdl,
I think you'll find daily volume to be a potential key here. . . .check out AAPL, for instance. It's worth noting, though, that while the Bid-Ask spread on AAPL will be .01 - .02 during the day, at opening and immediately after -- when traders are probing to see which way it's going to move -- the spread is liable to be .10 or more.

TRO:
In that order, "yes" and "no". I'm interested in being up on what you're doing presently but I've restricted my trading to AAPL for quite a while -- about 3 months -- and I'm quite content to be a Johnny One Note. I began about a year ago with six stocks (AAPL, FORM, GOOG, ISRG, JOYG, RIMM) and added one (DRYS) to that herd before settling on AAPL. It has all that I need, I believe: a loyal following, large volume, sizeable daily range, and small spreads. It trades actively in both the pre-market and after hours.
The time I spend preparing for the trading day is greatly reduced and much more focused.
Thanks for your prolific work (and for the tip which got me started on this path)!

cmeade2,
we must be in complete harmony, you and I, because I made no suggestion about how (or if) someone might use the information drawn from my data. . . .it's just information. . . .there was no "strategy" attached!

I'm certain that you're right, chetron. . . .I was sure that there was a command like that but I never got around to including it in my quiver.
Thanks! Next time I'll know where to look.

No, I have an Excel database not a "scan" or "filter". However, if you set up a SF watchlist "RinMotion" with the one stock, RIMM, in it and use the following filter
you can check it out a day at a time.

I said "intraday". . . .I also said that I had no familiarity with the filter written by The Rumpled One. . . .I note, though, that HE says it provides the day trader and short swing trader with an edge. . . .any time one has OHLC data, two of those are intraday.

I keep stats on RIMM. I am not conversant with this filter of The Rumpled One's.
Here are some facts about RIMM:
Since 11-21-2005, there have been 137 days where RIMM has closed with RSI(2) equal to or less than 25.
On 123 of those occasions, RIMM made an intraday high the following day that was above that [prior day's] close. This is 90%.
The average amount by which that high exceeded the [prior day's] close was $2.73.
Can you make any money knowing this?
