You are welcome. That link was from TRO (seen it somewhere in SF forums) so credit goes mainly to him.

Hi, betyerbottomdollar
my reply was to that guy talking about not trading profitably and thinking about making it full time. Like if I can't drive car slowly lets speed up a litle bit.

General Discussion · Fundamental Data Screener

Does anyone here knows about reliable (regularly updated and lets say within a week after data are published) fundamental data screener where one could compare quarterly data? (not only Q3 / Q3 but also Q3 to Q2 to Q1 etc.)

I expect it's not for free so if you can indicate subscription fee I will really appreciate.

General Discussion · Excel Analysis of trade data

- I think you want to analyze details on the data that contain much bigger errors (StockFetcher backtest data IMO contain some errors due to limitations how you can define your entry/exit strategy)

- "...analyze this data for patterns correlations..." do you already know what kind of patterns you want to analyze? Did you make your statistical tests in Excel (formulas...)? Data entry into tests shouldn't be such a big problem.

I don't know what your filters are but I would recomend you to focus on the ideas based on which they are build. Here in the forums are described couple of strategies for trading stocks (stochastic FastK(14); 8% gainers, rsi(2) and positive linear slope, MACD and many more) You can also go to where I would say is more readable description of some ideas (comparing to usually only technical one here)

Take one idea/filter, understand it and paper-trade. It will give you much more value than back-testing (of course it is not valid if you want to design fully automated trading system). You will be able to practice entries, exits, understanding your emotions... I started with FastK which Muddy described in such a detail that it was easy to follow. (Muddy, I keep saying thank you always when I'm picking stocks for watchlist :o))

Best regards

I think TRO once said "Markets are not about being right or wrong, they are about making money"

It sounds to me like you don't know what you want to do (to achieve) but you want to do something that would help you.

So what really you want to achieve?

I think it is better to work on your fear and greed than trying to design blackbox.
TRO had over the time some very usefull comments (dont take them word by word they were all in content):
- filter can only give you candidates, trading them is on you
- if there was successfull (long term) blackbox there wouldn't be markets

Filter Exchange · % difference between columns in results

After you get your filter results, does anyone know who to say:
(for example)
"and add column % difference between column 1 and column 4"

So, I'm adding a column that gives me the % difference between the 2 columns in my results.

You need to define it in the filter and add column.
column1 = close
column4 = close 1 day ago
set{ccc1, column1 / column4}
set{ccc2, ccc1 - 1}
set{PercDiff, ccc2 * 100}
add column PercDiff

General Discussion · MUDDY WEB SITE??

>For those who find it hard to place trades at work, and it easier the night before, any suggestions?

My personal opinion is that using sq/vol/break and retreat to MZ can be hardly followed (the way Muddy is doing it) by people that can't watch the market during trading hours. The thing is that Muddy's picks have high volatility (~high risk).
I recomend to read (also found thanks to Muddy) and look for "Traders Action Zone (TAZ)"

That's my 2 cents

Best regards
