General Discussion · how can I run a filter on 1 stock?

I don't know if stockfetcher would let me do this but I want to run a filter backtest filter on 1 stock. For instance I want stockfetcher to run a filter where it buys lets say AAPL every time the parabolic SAR crosses over and sell it every time it crosses back to the sell side. But I want to run this only on 1 stock and not a bunch of different ones. The point of this is to catch a trending stock and follow it up. Please help.

my opinion to you is follow the parabolic SAR. That is what I am using right now with success. I am in CKCM right now and made good money so far in the last month. The parabolic SAR will tell you when it is time to sell GOOG. When the parabolic SAR crosses over to the top and the DMI + goes below the DMI- around the same time then you know its time. You may also want to use the parabolic SAR on the 1 week charts too and not just the daily.

forgot to mention. When picking the stock make sure both the parabolic SAR AND the DMI confirm the trend. If both do not confirm it do not place a trade! Both confirm entry and both confirm the exit.

that ok to sell and ok to buy thing isn't correct.

ACI for example. If a stock's parabolic crossed over but the DMI never reversed in the first place that means the stock is a hold if you had already owned it but it is not currently a buy. For example the stock went down on ACI and the parabolic switch to the topside but the +DMI never went under the -DMI so this stock was a hold. Only when the +DMI crosses under AND the parabolic crosses to the topside is a stock a sell. I would never buy a stock at this point because I consider it too late. I consider this stock a buy at 5/27/2005 when the parabolic crossed AND the dmi crossed like I explained in my first posts.

Buy the way I do not advise going against the market. First follow the market and then pick your stocks.

RIMM
Got to love that sideways pattern. LOL I know you picked RIMM becuase it whipsaws and I know Parabolic is notorious for that. RIMM is a sell a long time ago and I would not get in it. There is no trend!

GOOG
Ah...google. Its a hold. I guess that means it could be a buy also but the + and - DMI both have not crossed. You could purchase this stock assuming the market reverses its trend AND you put a 5% stop loss on this stock. I personally would not buy this at the moment. I would hold it if I owned it though because you have already made profit therefore can sit through the correction. It is going through congestion and congestion periods are not good entry points.

QOIL
It was a buy back with the DMI crossed over. It's too late now. Hold it if you own it but do not buy it. NEVER CHASE A STOCK!

AOOR
Sell Short (I do not deal with stocks at this price range and do not advise it. I know Rumpled may enjoy it but I enjoy trending higher price stocks such as GOOG. I made 40% off GOOG in 1 month)

ABLE
hold (Do not buy though. Do not sell until DMI crosses over along with the parabolic which is too late now. This stock is sideways congestion.)

BOOM
hold (Do not buy though. Do not sell until DMI crosses over along with the parabolic which is too late now. This stock is sideways congestion.)

Hey you did not give me any short stocks. I am short CKCM right now. Why? Look at it and figure it out. +DMI crossed under and the Parabolic crossed to the topside within 5 days of each other along with heavy volume.

That is why I do not like the backtesting thing. It is not accurate. Generally buy a stock when the +DMI crosses over -DMI and parabolic SAR crosses along with it. General rule of thumb is within 5 days of each other. Just reverse that if you are shorting.

The way to use the indicator once your in a position is do not sell the stock until the Parabolic SAR crosses over to the topside AND the +DMI crosses below the -DMI within 5 days of each other.

For instance.

GOOG
4/20/2005 - BUY Signal (Parabolic crossed to the bottom side and +DMI crosses over -DMI within 5 days of each other)

There hasn't been a sell signal yet in GOOG so you should still be holding it until +DMI crosses below -DMI. Usually DMI lags behind the Parabolic SAR. So you would first confirm DMI and then see if the Parabolic SAR had crossed within 5 days. If it hasn't do not make a trade.
