A fantastic addition!

2 Questions:

1) How do you delete an annotation. I see how to reposition and resize.

2) Can the "split indicators" be removed from charts. They look too much
like the pointers.

Thanks

General Discussion · S&P 500 index

Hey Gene,

I claim no expertise in these matters, so take the following comments accordingly:

Note that the public announcement of MUR’s move to the SP500 was made on August 4, and the stock did move up in the days following, no doubt due in part to speculation. However, there’s nothing to say that there wasn’t a “strong rumor” among insiders prior to August 4.

Remember also that MUR was the heaviest weighted constituent in the SP400 MidCap index (as of March 31,2005) prior to becoming a pimple on the rear-end of the SP500. (Yes, the energy sector is responsible for much of the YTD returns of both indices, but still represents less than 10% of the sector weighting in both, and MUR is a small fish in the SP500 energy sector).

So while SP500-benchmarked funds were buying a small piece of the float of a lightweight constituent, relatively speaking, the SP400-benchmarked funds were selling a heavyweight. Notice all that range-bound trading in MUR during June and July that could be interpreted (by paranoid conspiracy-theorists) as orderly distribution, as the shares were being shifted out of some funds and into others, if the intentions were , say, inadvertently leaked prior to August 4. Never underestimate or discount the amount of collusion among insiders.

Hi Dick,

According to the info here:

http://www.stockfetcher.com/stockdb/fetcher?p=forum&sub=view&fid=1004&tid=30873 ,

the correct syntax is "market is not OTCBB".
I haven't tried using it though.

Hey!
Fantastic indeed! Now, trading this filter exactly as written, how many dollars or shares would you allocate for each trade, and what are the commission costs for trading penny stocks?

Thanks

Backtesting Support · Possible to backtest a watchlist?

Hi tomb,

I had backtested a filter, then used "edit" to add the line "apply to watchlist()", which it successfully did. Then I used edit to comment out the /*apply to watchlist()*/ , but it still used the watchlist. Then I edited, and removed the line "apply to watchlist()", but it continues to apply the filter only to the watchlist!!

Please advise.

poindexter,

SF provides "compare to" and "comparative relative strength" to allow visual comparisons to another stock or index. And of course, you can roll your own.
The example below illustrates these three possibilities. Generating trading signals from these indicators is a different matter.

Fetcher[compare to ^spx and
draw comparative relative strength(^spx,22)and
set{spxcl,ind(^spx,close)}and set{ratio,close / spxcl} and
set{my_rs, ratio * 100} and draw cma(my_rs,22) and
price is above 5
