Just for conversation sake, did any indicators work from jan. 2008 to March 2009?
Seems it was just best to stay out of the market if you could for 16 months or short TNA which is dangerous. Bonds were no good either.
You can hit one of these links and type in just about any stock that was trading back then and see how it did during the Great Recession market low point.
Getting back to indicators back in 08, it seems all were useless except SMA EMA which performed fairly well. Have to be extra careful when the bear comes back around. But as of now we are clearly on the long side, not to say we won't have bearish action within that range. I cannot wait till my indicator flips so I can
ride Tvix up for 50-250%. Well that's the plan anyway.
I don't think there was any or very few stocks long term that went up during the crash of 08/09.
There were some spike stocks like cl , rost , clx , and abc that had a very great run using a breakout pull back EMA(9) and the MA(50) run. I can say that everyone here would buy ABC .
