bought the first 1000 at 13.08, a little too early but got the other shares around 11.25 ...
i think this goes alot higher but took my normal exit given the run-up today ...

Interesting that this is monthly options expiration week and XIV and the US indexes haven't followed the usual script, yet. I think some longs are trapped above at this time and the most pain is to the downside for the moment. These lower probes and weaker thrusts up are going to eventually lead to an 8/2015 or 6/2016 type flush. To answer you post, short into strength over next two days with an entry when $SPX is around +10 points

XIV....Daily trend intact. Measured pullback is about $9 measured from bottom trend line, should end up around $97.
Day trade: Look at direction of futures in pre-market, my best guess we get an oversold bounce which will subsequently be shorted later in the day.
I will post my entry after first 30 mins of market opening.

JP, you pose a very difficult question. we've spent so much recent history in a bull market, and recently searching for the top. If $114 is the top for XIV, which i suspect it might be, then we will check up for a bit tomorrow to 107 or so and back down to the 38% retracement from 13 week high, which is 97.

As traders we're faced with these decisions every trading day, would be helpful to discuss it in a forum like this.

Added 1,000 shares at $104.64. Now long 6,000 shares at a cost average of $106.57.
Limit order in place to sell all shares of XIV at $108. If hit it will generate $8,580 in profit. No reason to get greedy, especially when the tax reform vote is about to be held in the House.
