Looks like a confirmation BUY signal on PETS as well today.

FIS, SMRT, and CMG popped up again as below the lower BB. These were confirmed buys already, so I have not included them in the usual update since they would already be in the stock portfolio.

FIS, AYR, TAST, DVAX, and AEPI popped up again as below the lower BB. These were identified already and several are previous confirmed buys, so I have not included them in the usual update since they would already be in the stock portfolio.

ROUGH DAY TODAY? None of the markets were down all that much, but for some reason we got 27 hits off the IBD stocks lists (about 5% of the total). Never seen that many hits before. Probably related to earnings announcements this week.

No update for 10/28. there were 85 stocks highlighted (about 20% of the entire IBD lists). Too many to contemplate.

I'll update only with confirmed buys and sells for now, as the list is shorter.

For 10/28 there were only two confirmed buy signals - BGFV and CRI.

As of 11 AM, 57 of the 85 stocks listed as potential buys yesterday are confirmed buys. This number will change by day's end. I'll post the confirmed buys tonight.

The average return today of all 85 (from last night) was 4.5%. That's exactly 2x the S&P return today!

This is my kind of screen - the key, however, is spotting the bottoms. This was the perfect dip though. The major indexes ran all the way down through the lower BB, and sure enough jumped right back up.

On that note, I'm just going to add some symbols like SSO (and on the opposite end of the spectrum - add SDS)... I'll add them to my 3rd watchlist (ibd3) -- I wonder if they'll display?? Either way, using them as a barometer of when to buy might be profitable - kinda seems like I should have been doing that previously.

Yes but would you have bought 85 stocks yesterday at the close?

Bartune1 uses the VIX (look in the Volatility Indices thread) as a signal to enter SSO/SDS, or the triples (BGU/BGZ, TNA/TZA). Look for a close of the ^VIX above or below the BB(9,2) bands.

He has been having great luck so far.

Saw that VIX post - and I like it. Thanks for showing it to me.

Again, I don't know if anyone else has brought this idea to you, but give me your thoughts on this.

*** I'm using your BB filter on 400 of TRO's Run Forest Run's. ***
(I took the top 200 of the 4_9 column, and the top 200 of the 10_19 column)

45 stocks displayed last night, and their average today was 7% (3x higher than the S&P).

Of course, you're not going to buy all 45, but I'm sure you get my drift as to why I'd pick/buy (speculatively) out of a RFR list vs. an IBD list. I actually think the risks are greater with RFR, but we shall see.

It will be very interesting to see the result in 1 and/or 2 weeks.

Will the RFR's REALLY RUN (versus the average of the 85 from the IBD watchlist), or is that RFR list/screen all hype! :-)
