average volume over 100k
unusual volume
price over $1
price broke out of a consolidation on high volume and went above the sma(20)
prices then consolidated and went below the sma(20)
price up today at the sma(20)
I am trying to catch the swing trade at the beginning of its run but it keeps giving me picks that have alreadt been up for several days. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Jeter: try this to start. Maybe look for a bottomed out but rising boll oscillator. Jeter was born in 1974, not 1973 correct?? big fan.

It's hit or miss on backtesting jeter, but as people have said here....there is no perfect filter. When one pops up, I would put it on the watch list and wait for it to make a turn.

What's your favorite filter on here?

well, i have maybe 100 filters i like and look at on and ad hoc basis. Tro's swing trader is pretty good, as it is stat based. Run Forest Run is pretty good.

If the filter does not also define the exit criterion, and has not been backtested, then it is only part of a decent trading system. If you do not have a clear exit strategy to match your entry strategy, then why enter at all?

so Kevin, why don't you post a filter you like that Mr. Jeter is looking for that back tests to your satisfaction?

That's exactly right PT. Always the guru advice but never a simple system without complex this or SS. that, all the while everyone getting tripped up on all its snags. Connors this and Guppy that and all snarled and complicated and no one seems to be getting anywhere.
It is correct that you need a good exit and a good track record though.

I'm just 100% in oil. Buy & sell when Shills says so.

Well almost 100% oil, also got some GST.

Now I know why I had you ( shillllihs) on IGNORE. Always have something negative to say about anything but you never seem to help out any of the new people. Always picking FIGHTS or dragging someone in on you petty horse crap. You give NOTHING helpful. I bet you stand in front of the bathroom mirror arguing with your reflection "Saying I'm right and you are wrong".

IGNORED 100%
SHILLLLIHS.

Other stock forums would have already BANNED you.
